Meet Josh
A lifelong resident of our community, Josh graduated from Patchogue-Medford high school with honors and has been raising his family in Shirley for last 17 years. The son of a teacher and union truck driver, he shares our working family values and knows what it means to make ends meet on Long Island. His passion for public service led him to receive a bachelor’s degree in political science from SUNY Albany where he gained valuable experience working in the New York State Assembly. Returning home to his roots, Josh has dedicated himself to his community, helping others and fighting for workers. He worked for former Suffolk County Legislator Kate Browning where he fought for us as her Chief of Staff for twelve years. Since 2018 he has been a union member for Laborers Local 66, serving as the Long Island Political Director advocating for union construction workers and good paying careers.
While serving in the legislature he was at the forefront of improving our quality of life focusing on illegal, substandard housing and crime. Josh helped preserve over 1000 acres of open space to protect our water quality and vital natural resources. He successfully fought for sewer infrastructure and helped secure $200 million to construct what became our community’s first ever sewer district, creating hundreds of union jobs and improving water quality for the Forge River. As a labor leader he worked with local schools to create the first union high school pre-apprenticeship program in New York State, guaranteeing a pipeline of Long Island workers and good paying careers for our youth. He helped pass Project Labor Agreement requirements for all construction on SUNY campuses in New York State ensuring local union workers benefit from taxpayer funded construction and secured OSHA-30 safety training requirements on large construction projects across Long Island's towns to create safer worksites for all workers. His decades of experience advocating on the behalf of taxpayers and workers will ensure working families can afford to live and thrive on Long Island.
